Turbo Problems.... STILL! *FIXED*

Featured Replies

No, well no more than any other engine component. just visually see if its choked, if it is remove it and use a bit o diesel to get rid of the carbon.

If i were you id try and get it disconnected or deleted

Yeah was thinking of an EGR delete and forge pipes maybe? Would I have to get it mapped after the delete?

depends if your ecu has a hissy about it and gives you a code. Try takig off the vac pipe first that disconnects it and if its gonna fault it, itll do it then

Sorry to sounds stupid but which is the vac pipe? And what will I gain from deleting it? And how much am I looking at to do it?

my egr valve is situated here next to oil filler cap top left of engine, looks like flying saucer, you can see my pipe is off in the pic. Its an exhaust gas recirculation valve and sends dirty fumes back through the engine for another go around but its detrimental to the engine health. Disconnecting the egr pipe is as good as a delete and cheaper (free) the valve wont open without the pipe, more mpg, less smoke, only clean air in engine.

Pull the pipe off and block it with a bolt or something to stop it hoovering up anything untoward, and done, if you dont get engine management light.... great, if you do put it back itll go away again after a bit

That's brilliant. Thank you. It was remapped when I got it, will the map effect it? Notice any perforance improvement?

yes usually more responsive, wont affect the map really although most do it before mapping, however some since and have noticed more responsive engine, less smoke and of course she'll last longer

Nice one. I will have ago at it tomorrow. If the ecu light stays off then all will be good. If it comes on then I don't know what to do then?

put the pipe back on, itll go away after a bit

Ok will have ago

If you delete the egr you will have to have it mapped out as it brings up the engine management light

So i think this thread has ran its course now. The turbo is now fine and boosting properly. Still getting bit of smoke when boosting, but I'm going to be trying some fuel additive and some shell v power diesel to see if it helps. also going to be cleaning the EGR valve. As for the sound the turbo was making, its now sounding like a turbo again with a bit of a small whine, but i put that down to new bearings if anything. Hope this helps anyone else who has problems with there turbo. I will leave the thread unlocked for another 24 hours to see if any replies come through, if not then thank you for all your help to the people who have replied and manged to point me in the right direction to my fixing my problem.

Many Thanks

Matt

glad your sorted mate, my turbo whines 40% of the time and has done for 63k miles.
