Engine Remap

Featured Replies

I have a 2002 octavia 1.9 tdi 90bhp and was thinking of getting it remapped but unsure if it will damage the engine over a long period of time, also wondered if i would have to change my insurance??

I'd say no as it's competely understressed and yes you should but in practice most insurers would not notice.

Insurers may not notice but if they do find out and you have not informed them then I presume it is grounds for them to void your policy. Generally most people only seem to pay a small amount extra for remaps, just depends on the insurer.

That's right but I am led to believe that you will still be covered for third party claims.

If done properly a map can actually lengthen the life of an engine, relieving it of the EU emission control that strangle it and make it less efficient mpg wise, to save a couple grams of carbon at the back end.

I've been quoted £200 for a remap and a diagnostic check is this a good price?

Seems cheap compared to the maps I have read about on more modern engines. More info probably available in the Octy section.

And then recoup that money from the policy holder who fraudulently insured their vehicle.
