Pd170 injector issues AGAIN!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm at a loss at the moment with my car. I had 3 new injectors in about 3 months go under the vosa recall, everything was fin until about a month ago. Car started to run a little rough. Decided to take it for a service an see what my local vag specialist says. After they plugged it in to vagcom injector 2 showed an intermittent fault ( this is one that was replaced under the recall). Took it back to my local dealership who did the replacement and they claim the works not under a warranty because it's a field service? Cars back there tomorrow for a diagnostics and to see where to go. I was wondering if anybody else is having a similar issue after replacement. And if anybody has and suggestions for me.

Sorry this is so long winded.

Whats a field service, I had my AC compressor replaced under warranty a month ago, It is nearly six years old,( I made a contribution ) and it has a 2 year warranty on it from the day it was fitted

Call Skoda UK and complain - if they have fitted a part it has to be fit for purpose - it obviously isn't.

I second bluevrs2's question, what is a "field service"?

I'd also want to know why Skoda only replaced three of the injectors under the recall when all four should have been done.

The only reason I can think of is if your car has had a replacement injector fitted before and the fourth one was therefore already the latest design.

Are you in the UK or Ireland? I have read that they were a little more strict/reluctant with the recall over in Ireland.

Either way the person I spoke to on the phone before booking my vRS in for the injectors was adamnent that they would come with a two year warrenty from the date they were fitted.

Ring 08457 745745 (option 4) and tell them you aren't happy with the information from your dealer.

According to the fool I've been dealing with at the dealership, that's what a recall is called in house( sounds like crap to me). I've spoken to skoda I have a case logged with them. They are saying the same thing in regards to warranty on a part in a recall in so far that there isn't one. Trading standards back this up but skoda are investigating it. I have come to the same conclusion that it had a replacement injector prior to my ownership as they only had to change 3 because of designs again I'm not thrilled with this response and skoda are checking it. I'm at such a loss at the minute. It's going back in tomorrow for the dealer to scan and verify the fault, then go from there is guess.

The. Associated wiring loom should have been replaced too, might be worth asking.

Someone else has mentioned that, thanks for he advice guys I'll let you know how it goes or if I'm banned from Gordon lamb lol

The looms were later dropped from the recall so not all vRS's will have had them done.

My argument to Skoda would be they replaced a fully working injector with a faulty one.

The recall was 'forced' by VOSA, when I spoke to them (right at the beginning of the recall last year when Skoda UK were still trying to wriggle out of replacing them) they were great, very informative. I reckon they might be interested to hear of your problem...

Skoda uk have been great got no issues with them it's the plebs at the dealership. I'm fighting this all the way at moment the thing that's got my back up is the fact the dealership wouldn't do anything until I kicked off and went to skoda uk. So if anyone is looking at getting a new skoda defiantly do but do not buy from Gordon lamb chesterfield.

Rainworths in Mansfield come highly recommended......

I am originally from Chesterfield and know lots of people in the trade (including relatives) in Chesterfield and I am not surprised that you are having issues with Gordon Lamb. Get the Derbyshire Times involved - Lambs will hate that

Legend lol

There will be what is in effect a statutory warranty attached to it, i.e. the Sales of Goods Act still applies to the replacement part, meaning it has to be of satisfactory quality, sufficiently durable, etc.
