Breakdowns/warranty claims Abroad

Featured Replies

Ive just had a chat with a very helpful guy at Skoda customer Services clarifying some points about the extended warranty and he raised an interesting issue about warranty claims & recovery whilst your car is abroad.

In Europe the standard Skoda warranty is two years. Therefore if you need work done under warranty whilst abroad their rules apply. In order to get your cover, the customer has to pay the foreign dealer and reclaim the amount through their own dealership at home, However, the point to note is that the window of opportunity to do so is short - two weeks. So worth remembering!

He also indicated that if you break down abroad and providing the cause of the breakdown IS A WARRANTY ISSUE, then they will recover back to the UK and provide an ongoing vehicle. Again, the point to watch here is that this depends upon the breakdown falling within warranty rules - so something like wear and tear issues wouldn't have the same level of cover.
