Which fuel filter? Also, any other service parts needed?

Featured Replies

I'm doing a few bits and bobs in the service department of my car.

first question, which fuel filter do I need for my 2005 Fabia vRS?

I'm guessing second one from the pics but it would be nice to have confirmation.

Also, can anyone recommend any other parts for me to do whilst I'm at it? I had a look in my manual for what's recommended but couldn't find any info on it.

Here's what I have planned.

Air filter change

Fuel Filter Change

MAF sensor change

The pollen filter & gearbox oil was changed 8k ago, and the oil and oil filter changed 4k ago. So I reckon I'll leave these unless anyone objects?

The car had it's last 'full service' at 62k in 2011 (the car is on 79k now), which I'm assuming includes brake find change. I'll be upgrading the brakes later this year, so I'll save the fluid change for this.

So I think that's everything bar visual inspection? What about coolant, is it recommended to have this changed at any point? Or just topped up?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about which fuel filter, sorry.

For the other parts, definitely air filter - OEM if possible. MAF sensor change is a bit drastic unless you are having problems with it?

When was the cambelt last changed? If it has been changed recently, was the water pump replaced? If so , the coolant would have been replaced too. If the waterpump has never been replaced, the coolant probably has never been replaced in its life so it may be wise to replace it. Its not essential by any means though.

I would leave the oil and filter for another 4-6 k. It is a waste of money to change before then, just make sure it is the right stuff when you do.

Brake fluid should be done roughly every 2 years.

Hope that helps.

Ah yeh forgot to mention that.

Waterpump, cambelt, tensioner, and alternator belt and pulley changed 8k ago also. So coolant won't need doing I guess?

Ah yeh, the MAF change is due to problems, not just because of the service.

Someone's input on the fuel filter will be greatly appreciated, If I order before 4pm with ECP I'll get the parts tomorrow.

Both the same filter dude just different makes :)

I thought there was a difference due to the height of them, but after looking at how they fit that doesn't really matter does it. Thanks mate!

Your welcome mate :)

vRS fuel filter. See my recent query. The early cars had a water drain on bottom of filter. You should be able to see/feel this underneath. My dealer supplied the wrong one (with a drain) but the change had already happened om my car. I ordered a filter without drain from Euro car parts and chose the Bosch one offered. This was the same as the OE one I too off. Sorry I'm too late replying for you to order one for tomorrow; you could always do the other items and change the filter later.

That will be without mate. But check when you get there :)

I mentioned in another thread, the one fitted to my car has a drain. The one I purchased doesn't.

The new one is slightly shorter than the original one, and seems to be held in place by the pipes that fit into it.

This OK to mix and match?
