4x4/vRS suspension parts?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I'm still trying to get my suspension sorted out on my vRS and I need a bit of advice on part numbers etc.

My understanding is that the OEM part number for the Skoda vRS Hatchback front shocks is 1J0413031CM, is that correct? If that's so, then today Monroe have advised me that their part number E4947 cross-references against that OEM number.

But on their site, that part number says its for the Octavia 1.8T 4x4, Golf V6 4motion, A3 quattro etc, all 4x4's. That can't be right can it?

Most cross references to front shocks on vRS's ARE wrong and do not have the mounting points for the arb drop links.

It's either OEM, or upgrade.

...1J0413031CM...

Unless it say so in ETKA, don't believe what it states on websites

Have you not tried phoning a Skoda dealer and asking them for the replacement part number ?

I've done this countless times, get asked reg number - then little waiting whilst some typing goes on, then get given part number - should be simplez

If you're replacing all shocks though, I'd think about aftermarket (cheaper+better), or 2nd hand - you might be lucky and find some cheap oe stuff.

I picked up complete set of low mileage springs and shocks for a vrs last for a very reasonable sum.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I would ADORE upgraded suspension, but for various reasons that I'll not bore you with, my insurance company will under no circumstances insure modified suspension and I am unable to move insurers without huge financial penalty for at least a year.

And Monroe swear blind these will fit and are sending me a spec sheet with measurements etc on. And they say it has the Arb drop link mount. But that doesn't mean I believe them! :-)

As for second hand shocks, they are about but fairly rare. I picked up a set on Saturday from the yellow vrs being broken on the forums, but I'm assuming they are not too good as they press down by hand very easily and th pistons do not pop back out again on their own. Is that normal behaviour? I was aware they may be worn, so not problems if they are shot.

Part number looks right or at least it says sports suspension ather than vrs but vrs isn't listed and shows proper droplinks on picture
