There's something wrong with my gearbox

Featured Replies

Remember I posted a message abou certain noises coming from the engine bay, of which I thought might be a bearing or something since it starts only when I accelerate..?

Well, I went to the dealer's this morning and took my service advisor for a spin to have listen...left the car there...they just called & told me the noise is coming from the gearbox :( They haven't removed the gearbox yet, they just called to get permission from me to have it removed & check (company policy)

It's very upsetting knowing there's something (as serious as this) wrong with my car. It's not like the car was jolting or anything while on the drive, they did say it may be some bearings which they may have to replace.

I'm feeling really crap about it at the moment, I've really been taking care of my car very well since I got it, so to know there is a serious problem with her is a real downer. I just hope it's nothing to serious. In any case, I have confidence in my dealer to take care of it as they have been since the beginning.

As far as finances are concerned, I'm glad she's still under warranty...otherwise I'd be shi**ing myself

Mechanical parts do fail. Even if the problem is serious, you are getting it fixed under warranty so stop feeling bad about it.

If it was a Renault, the dealer would have pretend he could hear nothing, until the warranty expired. Skoda dealers seem to have better integrity...

:thumbdwn: Is it a kind of squeaking noise when you pulled away and whenever the car jolted??? If so I have the same problem.

:thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

I know.

I'm very happy with the service these guys are giving me. I just spoke to the service manager, he told me that they first let the oil out to check it, my level was very low and they found metal dust...looks like the bearings are worn...manufacturing defect....anotherdude asked if i was a rough driver...i told him i do race but my shifting is way too smooth for me to have done anything.

In 2 weeks shell be ok.

it's all that sand in the gearbox ;)
