Hi everyone, fingers crossed!

Hi all,

I'm a private hire chauffeur in the Gatwick area and have become very, very bored of driving the Seat Alhambra that I've had for the past 4 years. The state of our roads hasn't helped the situation either, with every pot hole, lump, bump or crack in the road comes a crash of noise that thunders around the cavernous interior and it's getting on my nerves.

So tomorrow I go and beg to my bank manager that I'm worthy of a new loan and that I can then go and purchase the 10 reg Skoda Superb 2.0TDi 140BHP Elegance that I've already put a deposit on, hence the fingers crossed bit.

If all goes well I should be the proud owner of it by Thursday lunchtime.

So looking forward to getting back in a luxurious saloon/hatch with a nice quiet ride :-)

Thanks Alkip

Just a quick update, the bank threw a spanner in the works over the past 24 hours, have now resolved the problem and should be picking up my Superb on Friday :-)

Woo Hoo, got it and it has lived up to my high expectations.

I know I've only driven it from South Wales back to South East Surrey but I have to say I loved it. So quiet and smooth, and yet powerful when I needed it to be. One slight side effect of it having been sat unused for the past 2-3 months was the fact the brake discs have suffered heavy rusting and hitting the breaks moderately hard at 70 mph gave off a nasty vibration and noise. It didn't happen at lower speeds, so when leaving Cwmbran I never noticed it but I was already 50 odd miles down the M4 before I had to break sharply and found the problem, so it came as a bit of a shock when it first happened. It's subsiding now as the rusting gets brushed off each time I hit the breaks, hoping it'll disappear completely soon. My mechanic seems to think it should.

Looking forward to getting out in it and learning what all the switches, buttons and settings on everything do :-)

Yep, jump on the brakes a time or two, when safe to do so of course and it should be fine in no time
