can this trim be replaced?

Featured Replies

hi all i was just wondering if the trim that covers the bottom part of the seat belt and has the alarm button on the drivers side be replaced as the previous owner scratched it really badly??

You mean the B pillar trim, on the pillar between the front and rear doors ?

If so yes it can not sure on the price though, ring your local dealers parts department and explain what you are after, they should be able to look it up and give you a price.

yeah thats the one cheers will go in tomorrow and find out how much. i wonder how easy they are to replace

Pretty easy really. And it's the B-pillar lower trim.

I've just run cables for PDC under all the trim above the sills in about 1.5-2 hours taking it easy.

I can't remember whether the two adjacent pieces of trim need to come off first or not!

I have the instructions at home somewhere - I'll try to remember to add them to this thread when I get back home.

Quite easy.

Carfeully prize off the plastic 'airbag' button at the top of the upper cover, undo the torx screw behind it and peel the whole section away from the b-pillar, then simply pull the bottom bit away and up. It's only got two push clips about halfway down and some at the bottom which go into the floor.

Can't remember if you need to peel away the door seals to get them both off. Think you may need to take the trim from on top of the rear door sills off as well cos I seem to remember havging to take it off from the back forwards as they all overlap each other. You'll see when you look at the bottom of the trim you're trying to get off if you need to.

Oh, the alarm button is just kind of clipped on... I forgot all about it and when I pulled the trim away, it just pinged off. :giggle: Easy to put back on.

About 99.9% sure you don't have to touch the front sill trim, but about as equally sure you DO have to take the rear sill one off. If that IS the case, I found it easier to unclip the side sections of the rear seat and work forward by taking each bit of plastic trim off. Refitting is reverse.

Here you go a piccy for fixings (albeit LHD) but same panel

As I thought. ;)

Cheers guys that's a great help! So when I take it out do I just pull it and the clips should release??

Yes but some of the clips can take quite a pull, the ones half way up on mine didn't want to let go. In the end I prised the edges and used a trim removal tool I have to lever them off.

Not a big problem for you as you can wreck the existing panel and it won't matter as you will have a new one to go back on.

And as a contrast, the clips halfwy up mine weren't that tough to get off, certainly no more than the ones that clip into the bottom edge.

Must be FL clips then - LOL. Mine just wouldn't budge I ended up ringing a mate who I know has had that panel off.
