Fitting a roof rack - no plastic caps in trim

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2004 Vrs hatch and I'd like to fit a roof rack.

Looking in the manual there should be plastic caps in the trim that can be removed to reveal the attachment points for the skoda rack.

The trim on my car does not have the plastic caps in the trim.

Anyone know why? Also, what options do I have for fitting a rack?

Thanks.

:) If it was like my Octavia h/b I had to take some measurements off another car for where the holes are in the plastic and transfer the details onto the trim in place, you then remove the plastic trim from the hatch end by first prizing out the end cap and sliding the trim out, with the trim removed you can cut the holes (about 10mm x 30mm) without scratching the car, you might find that you will have to purchase the mounting blocks from the dealers if there are small white silicon plugs in the rail behind the trim. the blocks have to be ordered with the flanged nuts (two on each block) I think there are 8 blocks in total and you just pull down the internal roof lining to fix the nuts onto the blocks you then refit everything and buy the Skoda roof bars (try J.M.BUTT) which then clamp onto the blocks.

Hi I am new to this - I have an Octaivia TDi 110 2001 year, when I bought it the roof plugs were missing on the drivers side, does anyone know where I can get some - dealers seem to be most unhelpful for small items like this - thanks
