Weird Clutch

Featured Replies

Hi there.

I'v just had the gear box syncros replaced on my 99 Lx 1.6. Before the car went in the clutch was just fine. Apparently, when dealing with the gear box the clutch shouldn't be altered. However, I cant help thinking that something has been done. Since receiving the car back, the gear box and syncros are now brilliant. However, the clutch seems to be acting a bit weird. It starts to bite really low, but it takes the full journey to finish biting. also it slips when i have the accelerator pedal far down.

It seems weird that its happened immediately after getting it back, but it may just be a coincedence. I have the car booked in to get the clutch replaced. Can anyone think of any other reason?

Cheers, helps appreciated greatly.

Chris.

How many miles has it done?

LOL, bout 125,000. However the cam belts been replaced twice, and the entire top half of the engine has been rebuilt, so its in a good condition. What you thinking?

If its on 125k on the original clutch youve done well, and i would have recomended it be replaced while the box was out anyhow.

yeh, wish we'd thought of that at the time of having the box done, gutted. Cheers for the help.
