AA Towing Fail !

Featured Replies

Just seen this on YouTube LOL

Not sure you can blame the AA guy for that.

Pretty stupid those barrier systems.

i like the way they were bang on with the jacking points

Also synonymous with unreliability the good old rover 400 or 45 - bet its a 1.4

Of course you can blame him! They work perfectly well, just the buffoons who try to outwit them or not understand them. It's pretty obvious towing a car on a bar that far away from the van that the bollard will just think someone is following the van.

The barriers came down for an AA van, what about a car towing/van with a works trailer?

If the system doesn't have enough intelligence to work that out, then don't destroy a car based on that.

Just take the reg plate with ANPR and send them a bill. It's easier and less likely to get you sued.

I'm guessing since it has the bollard the road has some kind of restriction, no doubt the AA man was made aware of issues carrying trailers/towing cars when given authorisation to go thru it. Even if not it hardly takes a rocket scientist to work out what was going to happen.

We have one locally in a bus lane, the yard know the score so they don't tow the trailer if they need to go thru it to assist a bus. If something really needs towing I believe there are ways to setting th? bollard to stay down long enough to do so.

Clearly either the AA man forgot, didn't engage his brain or wasn't informed. Either way it's not really the bollards fault lol.

The system is designed to do what it did.

It's to stop people driving very close to authorised vehicles in an effort to sneak through.

If in doubt then don't drive through - simple.

Sounds very US Army to me. If in doubt shoot and ask questions later.

To me it sounds better to just record and possibly ANPR everything from both infront/behind, so that you'll always get the reg plate and send them a nice big £150 fine. You'll always catch them, it's just a case of do you want to be destructive or not.

But then we wouldn't have this kind of thing to have a laugh at:

Dont see the funny bit with the black kia jeep when the parents jump out and get the small child from the rear, oh and the guy holding his neck in pain. these things are just plain dangerous, on road's to and from goverment buildings yes, high streets no. Did i see correct in the last clip, the white iveco van, did the passenger hit the windscreen with there head.

No sympathy for them I'm afraid. The roads are clearly sign posted as being for authorised vehicles only etc and if they're thick enough to try and race through behind buses etc then fine.

Let nature run it's course... natural selection...

You can't cure stupidity.
