vRS Tsi whats the most u can get out of car with standard intercooler

Featured Replies

As title I see a few people have upgrades to the Larger S3 one but just wondered what sort of power people are running with standard

Thanks

No more than 290bhp even with the S3 IC, I have 330bhp with just the S3 and it's crap TBH. Really struggles in the heat. Definitely needs an additional IC and / or water meth injection to keep inlet temps down.

Fortuneately heat isn't a problem we have to deal with very often in this country.

The S3 was designed for OEM tolerences so 265bhp and 290bhp at a push. Running 65bhp extra than what it was intended means that performance is hindered during the daytime. On a night when the air is cooler and denser it feels like a totally different car, almost like going from standard to remapped all over again.

I know if a secondary IC was installed then it would drive like that all the time, and with water meth injection it would also give it even more power because of the effective octane increase it provides.

But in answer to the OP's question, the S3 IC would still be of benefit on a standard car and upto stage 2. Like I say, 290bhp is really the top end, even with the S3 IC before addition cooling should be considered, IMO, of course.

Ok thanks

At mo I'm planning to leave it alone unless I really need one

Had 3" turbo back fitted yesterday picked car up this morn sounds a lot better

Just deciding on intake may try the one awesome have on offer which Jonno has just got

Then its remap time choice at mo of either Bill @ Badger5 or Mark @ Southwest incartech.

How much is the S3 intercooler and is if a straight replacement?

Could you drive perhaps a little slower :giggle:

I agree with Harry and I'm surprised he's only got an S3 cooler!

I'm really tempted to get a Twintercooler setup to run along side the S3 cooler.

Search for the S3 cooler price. They fit in the rad pack perfectly but the hoses are different and it's a bit of a hassle to fit.

Currently on the look out for a twintercooler. Might get water meth too as that's great for more power. I haven't changed anything since having the upgrade done at JKM (apart from the ed30 engine swap) and I'm surprised they don't suggest that an additional IC is recommended because the only time I can get the true potential from the car is on a night time.

In my experience the S3 cooler is def an upgrade from stock, and fine if you are up to stage 2 (TSI, or Stage 2+ for TFSI) but like Harry I find on a hot day you can tell the difference, but here in N.Ireland we dont get many of those so its not a problem for me really

I like how Audi have dodged this issue with the rs6...2 smic's with a huge fan on each
