First tow with Yeti.

Featured Replies

I’m about to take my trailer away so thought I did hitch up to make sure it all worked. I have found that if I have the headlights On when I put the indicator On the fog light on the same side also comes On. The way it works is too consistent to be a fault, but I can’t find anything to say this is correct. It is a dealer fit Westfalia unit.

Can anybody confirm if this is the correct operation?

Assuming you mean the rear foglight rather than the cornering lights on the front then it sounds like a fault to me.

I have a dealer fit Westfalia unit and have towed a fair bit. Not had that happen to me.

yup cornering lights, they can be turned off i assume (dont know as i never owned a car new enough)

They can be turned off via the maxi-dot. But they are a feature on the front lights. If it's a rear fog light coming on it's a fault.

It's the front Fog lights but it seems odd that only the one in the direction of turn comes On. I must have a look in maxi-dot setup.

Just to confuse things, you cannot turn off the cornering function of the front fog lights in maxidot. Needs to be done by dealer, or someone with VCDS. Agree that if it is rear fog light coming on then it is a fault, but as OP says that it is the same side as indicated, presume it is the front fog lights they are talking about, as only one fog on rear should work.

It's a feature of the car.

When you indicate or turn the wheel more than half a turn with the headlights on it's activates the cornering light (the same bulb as used for fog lights) to throw light in the direction you are turning for better visibility. Just the side for the direction you are turning.

It's perfectly normal. :)

I checked the lights when I was stationary, they didn’t come On with the trailer removed but did with it attached so I thought it odd. Thanks for the info makes more sense now.
