Done a quick observation of intake temps today as i was bored and had it all plugged in as i threw a EML light today. (Resolved)

Was town driving, going no faster than 40mph. Outside temp was 24deg.

Intake temp was lowest 29deg... Average 32 deg.

How does this sound to people? I think thats quite good.

Good that mine arn't that far off, though I have had it go under the ambient temp while at high boost and speed! Pretty shocked as its an ebay one lol

I did about 100 miles on the m1 and also 5 fast country miles on seperate occasions and my intake temp was 3 degrees higher than outside temp on both occasions, will have to try it round town soon

going to be on the motorway tomorrow so will have a play on a longer run. i was quite impressed with my little custom set up.

Need to test it under load when intake temps will be a? there hottest

If it can keep it down there under load then its a good oné

Basically samé as forge and ths so would expect it to do well ;-)

How hot does the inlet manni get after a spirited drive ??

noticeable difference to the temps. need to put my funky inlet gasket on to help it more from the heat soak.

Will try for a good run tomorrow. car will be loaded up as well so should be interesting. yay to the school holidays and a week off work!

I measured my intake temp the other day on std intercooler with torque app max temp on 3rd gear run was 90deg..

Will do it again when I fit forge cooler over weekend.

Gee fit the gasket it makes a huge difference stops heat soak from block to inlet ;-)

What's this inlet gasket? I've got to buy a new one for when I put on the bam conversion so this would be a better route to take by the sounds of it!

Speak to Bill at Badger 5 for a proper phenolic heat insulating gasket, kit also includes two OEM gaskets.

Was just driving home from town, highest intake temp was 48 while stood still, quickly went down to an average of 30 on light throttle when moving lowest temp was 26 and the outside temp was 24.

Sounds ok to me?

ill test mine properly in about 6 years when I cab finally afford a map, has anyone fitted someone else's stage 2 mapped ecu before does it work and a cheaper option?

Only if its had the imobilizer removed or comes with dash clocks and keys

I was at r-tech and mine wouldnt shift above 36 degrees even after around 10 rr runs

Thats on a ths intercooler with fans on it so could probably see less on the open road

After a spirited drive my intake manifold is cold to the touch

Well just got in after fitting forge intercooler.

Went out for a test run using torque app, max temp 30deg... Then bang dam hose blew off, had to take out headlight to get pipe back together on the side of the road.

So a 60deg reduction in intake temp.

Taking car in for stage 2 in morning.

Are you running a water-spray? If not then below ambient isn't possible. Check your temp sensors.

These temp readings people are posting are no use if they dont specify what intercooler etc they are using...

Does VAG COM tell you this info?

Nope dunno if the external sensor may be over reading as it was stood in the sun 30 mins before hand but the intake temp went lower than the ambient temp

mine is a genuine seat sport intercooler with forge piping kit

Is that a front mount?
