Horn only working when pushed on LH side only

Featured Replies

The horn only works when I press the Left Hand side of the steering wheel, I suspect there is a faulty contact within the steering wheel.

Has anyone got any pics of removing the steering wheel and how to work around the air bag to get to the contacts.

I checked the forum by searching and yes there is a thread about it, but no real answer on how to resolve the problem.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Anyone ?

Need to get the airbag off and check its all connected and moving as it should. It's a pretty simple system.

To remove the airbag:

Disconnect battery and leave for a bit

Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees and insert a thin flat head screwdriver into the hole on the back.

Lever the screw driver on the clips you will be able to feel with the screwdriver

It should pop off at that side

Repeat for the other side.

You will then be able to see the switches for both sides of the wheel. Very simple system. Might just be a wire that's come off or something.

The clips are a little fiddly but you should get the hang of it once you can feel the clips.

Mine was full of fag ash from the previous owner, nice (not).
