Door Not Sensing When Opened

Featured Replies

My door doesn't know when it's open.

Lol.

When I unlock it and then open the drivers door if I don't put my key in the ignition the car tries to lock again after 30 seconds.

Also after a drive if I've left my lights on it doesn't bong when I open the door to tell me they're left on.

So I keep leaving my bloody lights on.

What do I need to fix this?

It probably the micro switch in the door lock.

For a failed part that costs about £1, the dealer will charge you well over £100 to fit a complete door lock mechanism.

Search for micro switch in the Octavia II forum and you'll find lots of info.

Where can I get a micro switch from, or do I need to buy the whole door lock mechanism?

Refer to this guide. Quite easy fix, if you know what you are doing.

Just watch out for the door lock cylinder "bracket". Disassemble the door and then check in to understand how the lock cylinder bracket works and then put it all back together. I did f*** with it like for an hour, before I understood how the bracket should fit in it's position.

sorted mine out with half a can of spray elecrical cleaner sprayed in through every opening

£100+ for the lock. Plus labour. Plus VAT. Try a total of around £250!!

Sorry. My meaning wasn't clear.

I meant that the £100+ was for fitting only.

Part was about £115 on top.
