grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr dam you bluetooth hands free

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Has anyone see this oddity with the Superb handsfree, I have two phones(Samsung Galaxy s3 for personal & Blackberry for Work). Both have been working nicely for several months and I could switch between phones as required until the other day.

All of a sudden both phones would get stuck in the "connecting" phase, then eventually time out and fail to connect, I tried various things but I couldn't get them to reconnect. In the end I did a factory reset as I couldn't get into any of the menu's to change the "connection type" .

Blackberry worked fine, the Galaxy S3 decided to connect in "RSAP" mode, at that point I changed the mode of operation as I'm not a fan of RSAP as it locks out the device so I can't use data.

This is where it gets really frustrating and I've had this happen before, the car disconnected then tried to reconnect the phone. It then displayed the passcode for connection of a new device (this is due to changing mode). I then entered the passcode which was then rejected by the car, I then double checked and entered again but still car handsfree kept rejecting the connection.

This is the REALLY REALLY frustrating part, I attempted to perform the discovery of devices again. The phone menu in the car is now stuck on passcode screen from the previous paragraph, I turned the car off and took the keys out tried again and still stuck, left it over night and still stuck.

I had this happen once before and had to wait several days as the cancel option doesn't appear to have actually been coded. .The only way you can get out is by pressing the back key on the steering wheel for a number of seconds. Basically I can't connect any phones at the moment where it's locked up. Tried a factory rest on the main display but no joy.

Anyone else seen this??? Al these phone connectivity problem only started recently, I'm thinking they may have performed a software update at my last service.

Haven't seen this on mine, so far anyway. My Galaxy S2 and the wife's Nokia connect okay, no system hangs at all. (Car is Oct '11 reg., Columbus is on f/w 3984, hardware is H60).

However, they both use RSAP, haven't tried HFP yet (in fact, I'd have to check that the S2 can actually use HFP and how to switch to it!), so can't say about the issue when you change mode/protocol, sorry. If I get a mo, I'll try it out and see what happens.

With an S2 you can change from HFP to RSAP (and vv) via the MFD phone menu (I haven't found a way to disable rsap in the phone).

I do this regularly while driving, if we want a working internet connection on the S2 (so my wife can check for traffic jams etc.)

Only thing I could find to switch from rsap was to root the phone and mod some of the software, which is too onerous for me, so if I can simply switch it in the mfd that's great.

From the MFD under phone, you can chose to connect via normal hand free instead of premium mode (which is for RSAP).

I presume you are on the upgraded module (3C8 035 730 A and above) that allow bluetooth streaming.

Hope that help
