what's the 1.2 12v like in the roomster

Featured Replies

I currently have the 1.2 12v 3 cylinder in the fabia. Seen a good deal of a roomster with the same engine.

Would it feel much slower in the roomster? Would it be back end heavy (because the 1.2 htp is a small engine much lighter in weight than the diesels?

I know it's going to be fast but i'm wondering if performance is going to be much difference or hardly any difference to the fabia?

If you're talking about the final days of the 25% discount offer, it's also on the 1.2TSi 86 BHP for not much more money. Way better engine I think, designed to take on the diesels (develops all it's power by 1800 rpm) very economical (especially compared to the htp) & well thought of. I would think that would be the one to go for & should give a better resale too?

no not 25% offer. pre fl one.

If you intend to drive it mainly in town, it could be a deal. Otherwise, I'd go for a 86 hp TSI. Better performance, better consumption. I guess it will not be a real bargain in the long run. :sun:

missus got one last year 1.2

even has heated front windows sounds like it has a cat under the engine(thundercat lol)nippy and does 47 round town,on motorway it surprisingly easily pulled to ahem 20 above sl,with 5 in and an extra 11 stone of weight also, snows 6-7"deep and she said it got home brilliantly no trouble at all as well,i was looking at an old vrs thinking of getting a roomster now

thanks, i'm currently lalso ooking at a 1.4 16v octavia (non tsi) as well as they are cheaper for the same year spec for spec. roomster pre fl is quite thirsty so will have to wait til a good deal comes up on the fl.

I am just in the process of trading in my 1.2 HTP 's' pre f/l.

Thoughts, the engine does pull well, 400kg of people dogs and luggage and it was fine, however in order for it to be fine it is very low geared so m-way cruising is noisy and the revs are high. Around town, very short journeys I would say around 34~35 mpg and on longer runs fully loaded 40~42 mpg. Ride and handling are both excellent for such a tall car.

Std spec is a mixture of brilliant and woeful,

Std front electric windows,no air con

Std curtain and side airbags, no remote central locking

The load area is brilliant, it is a shame the rear parcel shelf 'floats' depending on the position of the rear seats there can be a big gap. Although the load area is not the longest for an estate, it is relatively wide, removing the rear seats gives excellent room, however the seat fixings do require covering over if you are carrying dogs. The deep footwells in the rear provide good storage space when the rear seats are out and when making the rear area flat.

There is a ton of rear leg room even with a tall driver, however rear headroom can be a little compromised for taller passengers due to the theater seating.

Gear box can seem a little agricultural.

Fwiw it is a new roomster I have ordered but addressing the shortcomings spec and engine wise, however the 20 months or so we have had the HTP it as been a perfectly acceptable experience.

my missus in her 1.2 whic does feel lively in every mode motorway or round town, she's getting 42+round town think the other week on combined run about 30 miles each way it was 47 for a bigger car even better than the suzuki swift she had which this replaced as she like sbigger cars

ive seena 1.9tdi which i think i'll go for for reliability
