K&N 57i induction kit...

Featured Replies

K&N 57i induction kit, are they any good? How much difference would there be between it and a Green panel filter replacement? Would it warrant the extra cash?

go for the panel filter mate, the 57i on its own will suffer horrid heat soak at high speed. for best results go for a CAI :)

or make your own CAI with a K&N 57i and teh standard air filter box... like i did.. no heta soak for me

Is that difficult to do? Is it a case of cutting the airbox diagonally lengthwise and having the induction cone inside it? What other induction filters are there available that wouldnt suffer from heat-soak and would cost under

Joel_vRS, any chance you could enlighten me as to the finer points of creating a CAI using the original airbox? Have fitted the K&N panel filter but not happy with it, am still considering the K57i if I can find a way to stop the heatsoak...

Edit: My K&N Panel Filter is up for sale on Ebay, although will sell to anyone on here who is looking for one - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4550165991&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

I don't think a CAI can be defined by where the filter sits....rather more it is the method of getting colder air in.

I have a Jabba CAI...and the filter is next to the MAF.....the filter is not enclosed but sit within an enclosure which makes a seal against the bonnet when closed. The shield is to prevent heat soak from engine.

To all intents purposes a replacement Green Filter will probably do just as good a job as a CAI...just that you won't get a difference in sound.

Difference in sound os one of the things I'm looking for, the standard noise (or lack of) isnt very inspiring...

CAI is the way to go then. :D

You could cut holes in the standard airbox but then you couldn't return to standard when you sell the car.

agreed CAI if you want noise.... the K&N cone on its own is noisy but you have the heat soak issue... putting it in the orginal box shuts it up... so you cant win CAI is the way forward...

The Carbonio CAI I fitted makes a massive difference to the noise. You get a great big dirty growl under acceleration, and you can hear the shiny DV a lot better now. (couldn't hear a thing with airbox on)

lol...
