Bolero upgrade with PDC etc

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After suffering with the aux port wired to my phone for playing tunes, I've decided a Bolero upgrade is on the cards at some point so I can use a 32GB SD card. You can pick them up cheap enough on eBay and I don't want to go the full hog of a Columbus as I use the Sat Nav on my phone anyway and they're a lot more pricey.

So I have a few questions re this and my particular setup.

1. I have a 2008 58 plate so I assume there'll be no battery drain issues there with the current CAN?

2. I have rear park and that changes the display on the Stream head unit/ controls the volume/ beeps - will this just plug and play or will any settings need to be changed on the Bolero to cater for this?

3. I have a Parrot 3200LS car kit which has audio that comes out via the hard unit which says "Phone" on the display when I'm on a call. No idea how that's wired in - will that behave the same also?

4. A lot of the units don't seem to come with codes from what I've seen on eBay. I take it these are easily obtained from the dealer?

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

If you're using a SD card make sure you get the latest firmware on the Bolero. Older versions are painfully slow to browse SD cards.

I know a guy selling Boleros with the code for £150 a pop, PM me if you want his details.

1) Probably no issues. Apparently the issue is with the fan staying on. When I did mine, I wired it up, put the iginition on and put my ear against the Bolero to listen to the fan. I then switched the ignition off and listened again. It was dead silent. My Octy is a '57 plate.

3) Should do the same. The easiest way to wire it in is also the best way too, so it should all be in the Quadlock connector on the back. Again when I did mine, it was plug'n'play.

4) Best to get one with a code. Less faff and you can use it straight away too ;) ;)

I'd keep the Stream/MP3 unit as well. They're worth sod all and you can re-fit when it you do sell the Octy and either take the Bolero to the next one, or sell it.

Thanks guys. Don't have the cash yet (house is taking priority at the mo) but as soon as I do I'll have more confidence in getting this off the ground. :)

Does he do Columbus and Amundsen as well as Boeros?

No fan on the Bolero. There's a fan in the Columbus to try and keep internal temps down, due to the hard drive and extra gubbins for the nav.

The rest will just swap over. PDC beeps will work, but not the display as mentioned. The Parrot should work as it did with the Stream.

As said, get one with a code. Just easier all round and then you can also check it works properly straight away after you've bought it.
