Super bird droppings!

Featured Replies

Im not entirely sure what birds are eating these days, but one left a nice poop on my car overnight :wall: . when i found it the morning after i quickly got out a autoglym bird poo wipe and removed it

.....however it has already left a mark in the paint :@ which makes me wonder what these flying things are eating these days!

any suggestions on how to remove marks in paint would be most grateful!

Regards

Seagull stuff is the worst, highly acidic. I had some burn completely through some new paintwork once. Certainly a case of clear it off ASAP.

Non-metallic's being affected worse.

I recommend keeping baby-wipes in the car. :whew:

Depends how deep it's gone. You need a polishing compound, I use Mer, (the blue bottle you can get in Halfords.) clean rub that stuff in with vigor.

carefull not to go too deep though.

lol indeed!but, i managed to remove the marks by a compound polish, feeling kind of guilty though and this it best if the poor car gets a tlc valet over the weekend !!!

Just be glad you didn't come out to this one morning!!!!

 that would really suck!!!!

Waste products vary in their concentration from low like urine (e.g. mammals) through urea (e.g. birds) to high like uric acid (e.g. fish). At this time of year birds are often eating a diet of insects (lots around) and fruit (more and more e.g. blackberries). So, they are passing caustic urea and acidic digested fruit remains - a bad combination for car paintwork you'd think.

But, research from Autoglym has found that it's not the bird poop that causes the mark, it's the lacquer cooling and forming itself around the bird poop that leaves a mark. They suggest the best solution is to remove the poop ASAP with a wet cloth or wipe. Sounds sensible to me whether it's the bird poop itself or the lacquer forming as it cools.

And wash your hand if you get any bird poo on them as it can contain diseases.
