Electrical / senser? problems again!

Featured Replies

Have had past engine management problems recently! In the end the ECU was rewired, and all was well.

Now another problem which is as follows -

Car behaves normally.

HOWEVER, occasionally when I turn on the ignition, the glowplug indicator light on dash flashes.

If I switch off and retry all is well.

This can be the first start of the day OR at any time during the day.

Your thoughts appreciated on this one

thanks

Hold the front page!!

more developments since my post earlier today :rain:

During the day it has moved on to the following -

Now, every time the ignition is switched on - the glowplug light continues to flash, and continues when the engine is started.

In addition, another warning light has come on, this time the 'yellow engine block' emblem stays on permanantly - car now in limp mode!!!!

Have called skoda assist, and will be interested to see the outcome of their visit later.

The man from Skoda Assist came (AKA-RAC). His diagnosis PC showed that the DPF senser was kippered. This he replaced, only to find that the same warning lights were showing and would not go out   .

He then tried to adapt the new senser into the system, which I understand is the way to integrate a new part into the ecu and system set up log, and then attempted to clear the log of any fault entries (which according to his PC the car was unable to do.) He then removed the new senser and put back the original item. Therefore the car was still in the state reported earlier in the day. We decided that a visit to my dealer was called for in view of the work that they had done earlier to the ECU wiring.

After the chaps departure, I started the car to put back in the garage, and (you've guessed it) all the warning lights went out and all seemed for the moment to be normal.

Ah well, back to the dealer tomorrow for the next episode :wonder:

Into Dealers today - who commendably put car on diagnosis machine. As expected, a whole raft of errors were showing - so car booked in soon (with loan car supplied) for dealer to spend enough time sorting through this mystery car!!!

Their thoughts now include turbo problems etc :wonder:
