Not a CR, surely?

Featured Replies

Looking around for a friend who might be in the market, and came across this:

Surely on an 08-plate and without the options that later became standard, it's a PD170? From the photos it lacks Jumbo Box, dual zone climate and looks to be on 17" versions of the Zenith alloy.

Thoughts?

I would say it's a pd 100%. I have a 08 plate with the cr engine but mines has all the options that car is missing. Think mines was one of the first cr engine vrs off the line.

It's a strange one, unless it's not UK-spec and has come in as an import from the RoI/Malta of course, as I know that was done.

Weirder still, the plate comes back on a check as a CR - based on V5 info (not that that's ever 100% accurate!)

Thought all UK-spec CR170s would be on a 58-plate anyway, so that's interesting that yours is an 08.

It was the lack of options that first caught my eye.

I looked at an Sep 2008 PD140 in March before I bought my current car. The dealer (not this one) was a wide boy who tried to flannel me by saying it was a CR, with no belt, to answer my question as to why the belt hadn't been done. Feeling very sceptical, I rang my mate who looked on Autodata and he confirmed the only CR engines in 2008 were on the VRS, and I'm pretty sure he said not until August 2008. So this might just be a CR, but only if it is very nearly a 58 plate and it might be worth checking the exact date of registration.

These guys are based just outside harrogate arent they, they seem to always have a nice selection of stock & do seem to know their stuff when it comes to the cars they are selling,it does seem weird the lack of spec, you could email them & ask for a engine bay pic & see if it is a cr engine?

You wouldnt need a pic, just the engine code from the service book will do.

A look under the bonnet would soon tell yoju, it's a shame there isn't a picture of the engine bay.

There is one option that isn't missing, one of the most expensive too, it has xenon headlights.

it's on £135 Road tax so it must be a CR rather than a PD

Cheers. Hadn't thought to check the tax situation.

Must be an import originally then surely, if it's missing the usual expected options?
