Waning lights for bulb out

Featured Replies

What tells the system a bulb is out please? I am getting a message about a parking light but on checking the bulbs they are fine, and so I'm guessing its not a simple open circuit error?

Any info gratefully received

Adam

The CANBUS measures the resistence on the circuits, when that resistence changes it knows that a bulb is blown.

The Octavia has four rear tail lights on each side, check all eight are working.

Check the number plate lights too...

Thanks mate. All 8 rears are working, as are the front ones. But I didn't realise the number plate lights were part of the parking light system, so I'll check those at some point too.

I'm a bit worried I have got some wiring issues to my CANBUS as the bulb out warning light is an intermittent fault and I am also having intermittent parking sensor issues, which didn't seem to show on VCDS (although that could be my inexperience with VCDS!). Bugger!

You haven't replaced any with LED ones have you?

No nothing like that, I might be on my own but I don't like them...

+1. Not sure i like the blue tinted LED look in stock lenses, if your gonna do it get ones that are white, not white with a hint of blue

Thanks mate - one of the plate lights was out, and on replacing the bulb, the message hasn't re-occurred.
