Question on vrs acceleration

Featured Replies

Here's a strange one for ye .... Iv been doing a few tests the last day or two on long motorway runs ... An my octy vrs seems to accelerate 100 times better on half throttle than it does on full throttle ????

Clean the tb.

And most is in your mind as your expecting it to accel more when you pust the pedal harder?

Get someone eles to drive while you sit in passenger seat

Iv had a mate drive it an he agrees . Its Luke when the foot us to the floor sumthing holds it back but on half throttle it accelerates smooth an strong

overfueling?

Mine used to do that. Clean then reset the throttle body and it should help loads.

How do I reset the throttle body ?

I used my works snap on solus pro to do it. Don't think it can be done with a decent diag computer vag com etc. but I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. Try a search maybe?

Cheers clarkyzs. Can I clean the tb anyways an do a reset at another time ? Or do I need to do a reset once it has been removed for cleaning ?

If you clean it while it's still plugged in it should save you having to do a reset for now. You will prob need a new gasket for it also. Only a few quid.

Hey, I know its a while ago but did cleaning the tb work?? I have the same problem and thought is was just me!!

It will make a difference, mine was accelerating pretty nicely but slightly lumpy on idle, just wanted to clean it after I got the car so I knew where it was at. It was dirty, but not mega filthy, it still made a big difference, idle was much steadier, throttle more responsive, open and free. I didn't unplug/reset mine, did it all with a little catch tray underneath. For such a small job the pay off was pretty big.

Just realised how old this thread is lol
