Hybrid turbos.... Will I need a remap?

Featured Replies

I've already got a map but a hybrid turbo is possibly on the cars with a turbo back exhaust.... Problem is will it need mapping again or will it be ok?? Will the ecu stall the hybrid??

Yep you will need it remapped again to see any gains from the new turbo.

The car will run as normal though if you weren't to get it mapped

I'd get it mapped again for best results

yer it will run fine but as said you will need to map it for best results. whi are you using for your hybrid. i know a guy who can do you a hybrid and map at a very good price.

I was going to use AET Turbos in Wakefield for the turbo it's self and shop around for the map buy I am possibly going to go against it.. I have a standard clutch and tbh I can't afford to be getting 200bhp or so out of the car blowing up my clutch and not Bieng able to afford to repair it. So I'm possibly going to replace with just a pd130 turbo but then it's a catch 22 because I don't wan to brake that one with the remap... My turbo ATM is ok but seems noise like a hollow kind of spinning noise under hard acceleration. What you guys think :/

you can limit your power for your clutch with a custom map. pm a guy on here called speedy_vrs he can sort you out with all you need for the power you want or just some good advice.

Cheers man!! Might do! I hve a torque cap on the map that's already on mine but 3rd gear is immense but still lacks luster.... It's not quite up to say a leon fr tdi pd170 but they 'said' mine would be around 175bhp so I'm lost hahaha

yer its the torque you want to look at clutch wise. you could push 210bhp and limit the torque to 300 or have 190bhp and 350ft/lb with a custom map so basicly its how you want your power delivered.

Thanks man I will look into it!!

iv fit a hybrid garrett 130 to mine from turbo clinic in leeds.. mine has no map + the lag is immense!.. u will need a new remap bud ;-)

I can't help thinking just keep it as it is and not do any more mods. If you can't afford to repair bits when they die maybe you'd be better just keeping the money for a rainy day? Always keep a contingency for if something packs up, especially if it's your means of getting to work & back or your daily.

Thanks for recommending us joe :)

Basically every one has covered everything tbh buddy your best bet would be a hybrid on a lower torque remap then when you have saved get a new uprated clutch. Anything you need feel free to pm me :) but there's plenty of information on the forum and people on here to help you out.
