Sachs vs Luk

Featured Replies

Hi all

Thinking on doing the as it might need doing soon as it slipped the other day but I know these have the problem of dust build up, which DMF is mine?

surely they should know from the VIN, or if you take it to Skoda, or even an indy, let them do the work. They'll disassemble it and then they can see for themselves, or am I missing something?

I want to pre order it, damn sight cheaper sourcing the parts myself

I thought as long as the couch and DMV were the same brand you could use either.

Not 100% on that though.

I think some people have a solid normal mass for the 2.0 tdi now though.

Fwiw they do a dmf clutch kit which is cheaper than buying parts seperately.

Not sure about Octy2 but had an Octy1 and for that I had to go through this grind. Got a LUK first but when the part came off it was Sachs and the LUK one wouldn't fit. So had to get Sachs after returning the LUK parts. They may be right after all.

I usually get all.my kits from cg motorsport

Very well made and priced kits

May pay to try them

You should be able to tell which flywheel it is by looking through the inspection hole on the underside.

Note the horse shoe gap in the Sach flywheel.

Hi all

DMF and clutch are in need of replacement more then ever now (DMF has been rattling for some time but clutch has just started to slip)

Skoda told me that i need to get the DMF off or at least get the starter motor off to get the part number in order to know which brand of clutch and DMF it uses as if i buy the wrong brand it will not fit? Sachs or Luk

Anyone else experienced this? Personally does not sound right, a part is a part and all made in the same way just by a difference company, i can hardly see 50% of Octavia's having one fitment and the other having a different set up?!

Hi Ema, working for a clutch company this is one of the biggest headaches I had to get over when understanding the trade. It is as simple as the placed Sachs in one and LUK in the next, based on what they had lying round in the factory when they fitted them!!

If you send me your reg number I could try find out for you.

Andy

Does this mean that when I changed my clutch and dmf the other week I was just lucky?

I had never heard of one not been able to fit and ordered an luk one because I could have it delivered and fitted the next morning.

Surely if you are changing both then it doesn't matter what make they are?

Ive just had my clutch replaced and flywheel with a sachs kit off ebay and its brill. The Clutch was sachs and so was the dual mass flywheel, the release bearing was an LUK item however and it all fit perfectly.

Sorry John when changing the whole lot (clutch and Fly) you can fit either Sachs or LUK as this is a complete modular kit. If changing just the Clutch or fly it has to be the same brand as the one already installed. Sorry for any confusion.
