Fixing major bodywork damage

Featured Replies

Ok I was stupid recently party a mistake on my behalf, went into a barrier. Luckily no windscreen damage but it rode up and did most damage on my door frame near the roof.....:o(

Thankfully I have a family member who has been in the "profession"

Pity I didn't do any "before" as they were quite bad, just during repair basically it was at least golf ball sized damage on the door frame area, it actually was worse than it looked because yellow as a light primary colour does help diminish the damage

Anyway repair steps:

1/puller kit, damage minimised by bringing up the affected areas (4 seperate)

2/removal of old polyester stuff and sanding down in preparation for P38 filler

3/several passes of applying P38 in moderation then sanding to bring back the shape

4/primer then light sand down

5/topcoat

Now thats still not complete to absolute perfection but I can tell you it looks a LOT better than it did, and hopefully gives some reassurance to anyone who was thinking of taking on damage repair. The key thing of course is time.
