Volvomegs VRS

Featured Replies

Thought it was about time i did one of these as i've had my vrs a couple of years now and theres been a few changes in that time

Bought it as a standard red VRS with 63k on clock and a folder of recipts

Already had changed plates for a fresh set

It stayed standard for a while but the chrome grill i thought looks awful so it had to go, so i did grill black, or i started it and made a balls of it so my friend who was a painter did it for me as he owed me a favour, also indicators looked abit grubby so onto superskoda for a set of black indicators and i won a set of headlights off ebay cheap.

I then set about opening them up and stripping chrome off and painting inserts black, complete pain of a job but looked so much better,

Also ackwired a westfelia detachable towbar cheap off ebay as were still doing house up so use it for tip runs rather than putting stuff in car

It stayed like that for a while just replaced all front bushs as they were getting quiet tired and a set of jom plus coilovers as it handled like a barge

I then went on group buy on here for shark stage one remap and sts box, I removed all Sai and valves etc and had them mapped out when i had map

Then middle of august last year we had house broken into while we were asleep and they not only took stuff out of house but also helped themselves to my car keys and took my car,

but thanks to the power of the internet and car forums it was spotted parked in a housing estate 10 miles away and the police went and lifted it straight way and i got it back with only 12 miles extra on the clock and covered in powder dust where police had finger printed it, i think the only lucky thing was the clutch was slipping on boost when it was taken so i did g60/vr6 conversion when i got it back along with new lock set.

I bought another set of tidy spiders off skinnyman (thanks) so it was getting to how i wanted it

Over last winter i took it off road for 3 months and decided to fit a few bits i had gathered

I also gathered all bits to do R32 front end conversion so had subframe sandblasted and primed then i gave it a few coats of hammerite and built subframe up to and swopped the hole lot over, subframe, rack, rollbar, bottom arms and hubs

Also did polybushed rear axle and carred out a 4 wheel alingment,

Just need a rear roll bar now to finish it off,

I also got a miltek cat back system off another member and fitted that, it started off with a ebay decat but i have since swopped it for a apr sports cat/downpipe (thanks to yellowvrs)

Having tried a couple of sets of wheels on car over 2 years, set of 18in audi 6 spokes and a set of audi S3 wheels i went back to spiders, was going to have my spare set powdercoated black but never got round to it so this was how car stood today

Having dropped a couple of hints to another member on here about him selling me his wheels he then told me he was selling his mods lastweek and he would be selling his wheels so exchanged a couple of pm's and went to his house and collected yesterday

Can you guess who's wheels i've bought????

Looking good :), although I thought they would look better then they do, I think your right about the black bits making the white not go so well, how strange

Did you change the pump when you did the rack?

  • Author

No i still have standard pump, steering is abit heavier but i actually quiet like that as i found standard to light

Yeah I like steering a bit heavier really to give more feel, what brakes are you running on that? And althought the wheels look good in white I do believe a darker grey is what you want.

Have standard 312's with bosch discs and pads, there okay for road use but not good enough for track use.

Brembos are on the shopping list but will prob have to wait till after christmas now

Kidmans Exclusive Grey is what you need.

Fairly happy with what it made with only a stage one shark map altho it has everything to go stage two but never bothered and 23'c outside temp

Only thing i would like to improve is the dip in the power curve as i can feel it on road altho not sure if its the map or something on car holding it back

Love those wheels!
