BOOT LID SQUEEKING

Featured Replies

Hi.

Recently my boot kid has started squeeking and making noises when I hit bumps or turn corners is there anything I can do to stop this ???

on my last car - a lupo, I had the same problem. It turned out to be seal on the car round the bootlid causing a creak. Solution was to smear vaseline on them

Give it a try cheers mate

Silicone oil is a better choice than vaseline. Vaseline will eat through the rubber. Remember kids, never use Vaseline with condoms!

As ^^^^ silicone oil much better Vaseline dries the rubber out and eventually cracks

...or glycerine...

Might also want to have a look at the boot lock striker and/or the "guides" or whatever they are near the corners/edges.

If the boot lid isn't held tightly it'lll squirm about. Hopefully a minor adjustment to the strioker will fix. Otherwise look at the seal or (hopefully not) hinges.

...or buy it some cheese... :)
