Anyone?

There was a guide in the fabia technical section on how to do this. Have a little looksy :-)

MOT failure looms...

...at least for the 5 brake lights mod.

Please don't do it.

There's absolutely no need to have 5 brake lights, or two blinding fog lights. It'll be blinding to following drivers at night time.

It's the equivalent of driving around with a rally pod of spot lamps on!

Can't see the problem with twin fogs, they are obviously only to be used in fog & plenty of cars have twin fogs as standard.

TBH rear fog lights only need using when visibilty is really really bad, and when it's 'that' bad you'd already see the bright red glow in the mist many many metres before hand.. you can't say you actually need to double up.

and besides having two rear foglights actually makes it much harder to spot brake lights coming on at a glance. Foglights run the same wattage bulbs as brake lights, and therefore look like brake lights.

The only distinguishing factor would be the 3rd brake light in the middle.

Now you wouldn't go lighting that up as a fog light too would you?!

I find two lights gives you the chance to estimate distance more accurately and confirm it's a wider vehicle --- as opposed to a motorbike... Or an old Ford eScrote with one knackered rear cluster. :)

Fog lights are invaluable when it's foggy or even moderately misty. Main gripe is people using them in heavy drizzle or rain. Shiny surfaces emphasise the glare. You almost need sunglasses!

My main gripe with fog lights are those who insist on using them all the time, even if it's a perfectly clear night with hundreds of metres visiblity - it's just as blinding as full beams...there seem to be a concentration of them in and around Birmingham in my experience...

I swapped the wiring over at the switch on both my cars so that the Rear Fog Lights come on first and the second part of the switch brings both Front and Rear Fogs on, much more sensible.

DB.

This is the only answer that was needed, well done.

I only ask for the info on how too, as I am doing something different to everybody else on here. And in other post on this thread loads of vehicles have two rear fogs. As being a lorry driver for work and up at 4 in the morning and driving over the peak district the condition are very bad. I would like to be, BE SEEN BE SAFE. As I've seen to many people on the route to work dead or in bad accidents.

Thanks for your opinion on this,

Ant

Fair enough, but at 4am in the morning (or anytime it's dark) rear FOG lights give out an unmistakeable mahoooosive red glow in the mist from many many metres away, no one can ever say they never saw the red glow in time, let's be brutally honest. Can't see the point in adding another foglight, really.

The argument about being able to judge a car's width better... REALLY?? how bad is the fog that you'd need two fog lights at the rear? Are you even gonna overtake if it's that foggy in the first place?

It's all nonsense.

Sorry for getting worked up about it, it's a real emotive subject!

VW/Skoda/Seat made the right decision in making the fog lights only on the off side of the car in my opinion.

Audi on the other hand... driven by idiots most of the time

Why?, can't see it myself.

What is this something different you are talking about? I am intrigued.. :bandit:

I am tempted on doing the emergency middle brake light flashing mod (as the middle is LED and can handle flashing). However the aftermarket emergency brake light module are never the same as the OEM ones as they use different systems (I think).

Modded all of my rear lights two MOT's ago due to changing over to LED's and wanted more lighted area due to the fact that they were slightly dimmer than standard.

Passed both of the MOT's and never had a problem with the police.

Then again also have a removable tow bar (for bikes) still not a had a problem.

Might be just lucky I guess !!

I must've asked you this before but did you put extra bulbs for indicators and reversing lights? or did you file down the wall between the top and bottom?
