strut brace help

Whats the best way to fit a front upper strut brace to octy mk1

jack it up, drill holes, bolt it on. it really is that easy.

As above,

I bought a Audi S3 upper strut brace, placed it on the strut mounting, making sure the strut was central in each brace c/out, scribed round each bolt hole edge on car.

Centre punched centre of each scribed circle, drilled 1 hole on each side then bolted it in position, then drilled remaining bolt holes.

Un-bolted and removed brace, de-burred all holes, treated hole edge with zinc paint (any anti-rust treatment is essential),then bolted it up in position. (I used stainless lock nuts/bolts (M10x30lg) and washers).

The hardest part was taking a electric drill to my shiny new toy.

I just placed it on marked the holes with a sharpie drilled them out then used some heavy duty metal self tapping screws from work and it's solid can use bolts but I just used those for ease of fitting/removal as I don't need to take wheels off ect :)

I wouldn't use self tappers ! Stainless bolts with nyloc nuts and washers is the way to go.

I went with stainless nuts n bolts etc

With a few choice words a feeling you can do it with the wheels on if you got a pair or helping hands :)

Don't! Unless you know that the shell is straight all you'll do is lock the bend in.

I did this too but wish I went captive nuts like the lower brace so can be removed easier as a pain to remove when you need to, but when i consider how often that is i live with it no problems.

i used the same set up as most.. nylon nuts etc..

Self tappers.. thats interesting! any pics?
