Help!!!!! my power steering sometimes cuts off and then comes back on again the cars w reg i dont think the belts have been replaced yet 70k on the clock but when the powere steering goes the lights dim and flicker and then its back to normal again :orb_no:

Can't help on the power steering going, but the lights dim because the power steering is electric rather than hydraulic. Most noticeable when you park at night!

I believe a few members had problems with a PAS sensor? May get VAG-COM on it and see if any faults have been logged.......

Hi there!

We had this on our W-reg Fabia and it gradually got worse. The fault was indeed a sensor of some sort - a "yaw angle sensor" I believe.

The fault was quickly remedied by the dealer for around

thats good to hear i thought i might have needed a new pump with would have been about 300 quid for a pump :( but yeah ill get them to have a look when the mot is due sometime next week i think :)

IIRC it's electro-hydraulic, ie a hydraulic pump powered by electricity.
