Hi had just left my home when the airbag light came on so i went to my mechanic and when he dun a test on it he sad that it came up with a code 01217 then he sead have to do some more test on it can some tell me what is code 01217 and how can it be fixt thank kennymat60

side airbag igniter, front drivers side. It could go away if you just have the fault cleared.

Side airbag will be the one in the seat, have a look at the wiring under the seat.

You could download torque pro app to your phone and buy an obd2 blutooth adapter, I have the elm 327 around ten quid on eBay. App is 3 quid. so 13 total gets you a wee diagnostic kit capable of reading and clearing fault codes. In alot of cases clearing them causes them not to reappear if its a small glitch.

I've just scanned a friends '06 Vrs with this fault and also the corresponding passenger fault.

I can understand one connector under the seat going wrong, but both at the same time?

And they came back after clearing with VCDS...

Where do the connectors under the seats go? To an airbag module at a guess. But where is this located? Could this be a logical place to look for a wiring fault?
