I seem to have a problem (Limp Mode)

Featured Replies

Every time I give it welly, when the RPM is say over 4k (ish) or at a high state for a long period of time the car goes into limp mode, Its starting to **** me off.

I have no codes, and its running fine. So with out codes I dont know what to do?

The limp mode your referring to might be because the vanes are sticking on the turbo, it overspeeds the turbo, and the limp mode is a "safety feature"

My old tdci used to do this if you was going up hill or in top gear and you used to much throttle it would go into limp mode. i had a bleed test done turned out to be the injectors had them replaced no more problems.

these are variable vane turbos and this is a very common issue and the mr muscle treatment always works, it wont be injectors in this instance, helped a member in crieff the other week there with an asv fabia vrs and it sorted his too.

However i have learned something that may come in handy when i come across a tdci with similar symptoms

can someone explain the problem to me as i dont really understand, now going to have a read thanks Lofty

The vanes on the turbo sound like they're sticking. When you give the car some stick and the turbo kicks in, the vanes inside open up slowly. The higher the rpm, the more they open. They tend to stick due to oil and crap from the inlet and egr being recirculated into the intake and coke the turbo and vanes up hence them sticking open. When they stick open they cause the car to over boost so it goes into limp mode as they are stuck open.
