Removing side-repeaters?

Featured Replies

Hey there, another "how to remove"-thread by me!

It's raining here (as usual) and I'll try the forums instead for this.

How do you remove the side-repeaters?

Is it by remove the plastic inside the wheel-arch?

Or is it by prying with a flat screwdriver?

Want to replace the bulb with some LED instead ;).

I think it's a case of removing the wheel arch liner like you say, then I think you just push it through from the back. Did it this way on my old mk1 anyway.

only thing i would say is watch what angles you can see the repeaters from, as LEDs have a much smaller angle you can see them, and the 501 led's tend to be visible from side only so not sure how they will work in side repeaters

http://www.hids4u.co...-led-bulbs.html these are no good as no light given out from the end

have seen some which are end only can't remember where, so make sure the have an LED on the end and they may be ok

Not too sure if this will really matter as they are designed to be seen from the side, not the front or rear.

At a guess, I would say they will prise out gently, with a screwdriver or similar. There is a plastic tool for doing this sort f thing.. Much safer then risking a metel blade near the bodywork, though!

because the repeaters are recessed and the top of the lense is flush with the wing only light coming out the top / end of the bulb will really show out the lense

hence my comment above about make sure the LED bulbs have LED(s) on the end, not the sides

DO NOT use a screwdriver to praise from the front you will damage the wing . You have to go through under the wheel arch easy job take the screws out from the inside lift the arch fiddle with hand till you can squeeze the wing on the repeater press and push out to replace push back in till it clicks
