Short belt to run without AC

Featured Replies

Hi.

So yesterday my car ate the AC compressor - gonna be costly :(

But does anyone know if it is possible to take the compressor out and run with a shorter belt until the new parts arrive?

My car is an Octavia TFSI with the BWA engine.

Thanks!

Same problem happened to my 1.9 TDi, garage smashed pulley off A/C pump & replaced with shorter belt from a non A/C motor.

Ok - do you by chance know the length of the belt?

My compressor went too - but I kept it connected. I dont know if this will have caused problems - it only made a horrible noise when filled with gas.

I have a new one to put on this week. I got it from Euro car parts and it cost £189 with discount. Your will be different, mine is diesel. Good luck.

I don't sorry mate
