What do I need for all the engine bay clean up mods?

Featured Replies

Hi

I just had the car boost test and it looks like its leaking pretty badly out of pipes under the inlet manifold. After researching all day I think the breather simplification will do me better on both pocket and engine bay tidiness.

So what Ive found is that each thing requires the following

The SAI removal

-Forge blanking plate

-330ohm resistor

-?

N249/N112 removal

-330ohm resistor x2

-?

Charcoal Canister Delete

-?

Evap, Vac hard lines, Breather simplification

-?

I know that cant be all of what I need, if anyone can give me some other parts ill need it would be a great help.

Thanks

Charcoal canister needs a resistor

N249 needs a length of vac pipe from inlet manifold to d/v

To pull out the hard lines you will need a length of pipe from the coolant to radiator pipe, can't remember what else off hand but I have just removed it all,

Cntuning is doing cheaper versions of the forge sai blank plate

Don't think you will find it cheaper deleting than replacing a boost pipe buddy, as you typically need extra hoses, resistors blanking plates. You boost leak is probably the small "S" pipe under inlet manifold that is around 16 quid last check.

Also you will need to fix your boost leak as deleting SAI , N112 and N249 will not fix that, as the boost piping is connected to the EVAP and suction spray system which typically invloves fitting a oil catch can

my advise is fix boost issue.

then start removing delet items in phases, unless you have everything ready and don't need car for a day or 2 in case you forget stuff.

start with the SAI Delete as this only needs a blanking plate plus 1 resistor.

Then N112 and N249 plus 2 resistors

Then you can think about EVAP and suction and adding a OCC.

I plan to take the inlet manifold off when I go to fix the leak but also planned to tidy it all up eventually to prevent future leaks, so figured I'd do it all at once to safe time and swearing following yours and Robs guides I just need a full list of parts I'd need.

I have the michi catch can fitted already.

I want to get one them saikou michi jimmys :)

Just have to save abit

i warn you.. finding broken breathers results in this...

it was standard except for a Forge 008 Dump valve and and air filter. i thought i would prevent ant further drama by deleting everything, and replacing all my pipes with Creations stuff. (who were a dealer for btw..hehehe shameless plug)

All this plus loads more because of a split breather and wanting to improve what was there.

you have been warned. :)

I don't think I have enough money or experience to do that :-P I just want to eliminate the potential for leaks and the less pipes there are the less risk there is. If your a supplier what kit can I buy from creation to do all the deletes? As I can't fault them my intake pipe is from them and it's excellent.

W8 do a braided lines as part of a EVAP simplification and "N" delete kit, as you will loose the solid coolant pipe when you delete and lessen your EVAP lines. As far as blanking plates go, Clive sells blanking plates, As do Forge so the options yours. :)

yeh Creations are good lads. :)

Well in that case you are on the right track and if removing inlet manifold then yep you can tidy up the boost pipe and remove the 'S' pipe and 'T' piece from the main 90' block pipe and fit the catch can hose direct to that pipe.

You can then plug the hole on the inlet and route a new DV pipe from DV to inlet thus loosing hardline and plastic container on cam cover.

This is all way over my head but still going to give it a whirl only one way to learn. I doubt I'd get anywhere without your guide bowders so thanks in advanced.

My list so far is this

- SAI Forge Blanking Plate

- 10w 330OHM Resistors x4

- 2 metre of 10mm hose (CMS)

- 2 metre of 4mm hose (CMS)

- Vacuum Caps

- Coolant

- Throttle to intercooler pipe with Cold side DV (CMS)

- Pancake to intercooler (CMS Pipe)

- N75 Pipe (CMS Pipe)

- Diverter valve to inlet (CMS Pipe)

- Turbo outlet (CMS pipe)

If im missing something please let me know as I cant have the car sitting up for too long!

Also was onto Creation about all the boost pipes getting the cold side dv and boost kit off them they couldn't be more accommodating to your needs definitely recommend them too, Gee Thanks!

You are about there buddy. To be honest it is not hard and not that techy just removing stuff, and you will be well chuffed with your own results..

Tip, take pics as you go along then you can refer to them when you are checking to see what went where and to which hole, plug, tube etc.

If you are going to change Silicon hoses at the same time you will be extending your time especially if you change the TIP. That can be a right swine to do.

I would leave that to last as it is out of the Inlet manifold way and can be done at any time. Depends on how long you have

good luck buddy
