vRS tomorrow :-)

Featured Replies

Picking up my 61 plate vRS TD tomorrow.

Anything I should be looking out for, be aware of?

Had a Fabia vRS diesel previously but we've got 2 kids now so need more space, and I

need more fun when driving!

Is it easy to get decent MPG out of, or is it impossible to drive it slowly/carefully?!?

Im sure you will love it. Only done about 900 miles on mine now but its great so far. I read a few negative posts on here about wind noises, rattles etc etc etc but mine is faultless. I was actually pleasently surprised by the ride as my BMW before was very firm and i thought the VRS would be the same but its actually a lot smoother. Probably means that the main culprit of the firm ride was the BMW's run flat tyres. Still feels firm and sporty my VRS but doesnt crash over bumps nearly as bad as the BMW.

Any bad points discussed on hear tend to be the minority as people dont tend to go on forum and speak about the good points so negative things are generally all you read about. Same for any car i suppose.

As i say mine is perfect so far and feels really tight and well made inside which is a real bonus considering how cheap it was compared to other cars i looked at.

Im still running mine in so havent driven it too hard yet but i know what to expect as i had a golf before with a similar engine and gearbox and it was great. For some reason my golf felt faster than my BMW even though it had less power. I have read on other forums that its something to do with the way VAG diesels develop their power compared to BMW diesels but it definately feels more eager.

Maybe in the future i may remap it but that is certainly not needed at the moment.

Another goos point is the size of the boot. I thought it would be comparable to my 3 series but its miles bigger. My poor old dog had to slouch down before now his head is no where near the roof lining.

Of all the good points the thing that i like best is how much money it is saving me compared to my last car and i dont even feel like ive had to comprimise to enjoy the savings. Love it.

Done about 1k miles in mine now. Only issue I have is the handbrake needs greasing as it makes an awful creaking noise when you apply it. Its booked in for it to be looked at. No other issues at all. Managed to get the mpg up to 30.4mpg now. Was just over 20!.

Average of 50mpg in mine over last 4500 miles, but that's a PD so in theory thirstier.

I'd say mpg on mine is a tad better than the Fabia overall but not much in it.

I moved from a Mk1 Furby VRS too a 2011 VRS CR TDI too 10K on it now and can get over 50mpg on long runs and more on rural runs if I want to if not still around the 50 mark but I could easily get 60+ on Fabia even with it being remapped! You will have warranty still so shouldn't have any big worries if you just check the normal bits you would buying any car. If it is on variable servicing it may not have even had its first service yet! If car has the fancy maxidot display you can check it via this by holding down rocker switch on end of wiper stalk (same one as to scroll threw mpg etc on fabia) hold either button down and it will bring you into menu then button along bottom of stalk to enter each screen, if no maxidot you can still check method is on here somewhere have a search.
