clutch issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys, need a bit of advice. I've recently changed the dual mass flywheel and clutch on my 1999 tdi octy, I unbolted and tied up the clutch slave cylinder out of the working area, now the car is back together and the slave bolted back in, I havent got a very good clutch pedal. To start with I had no pedal at all but after about 20 pumps it will disengage but pedal is on the floor and doesn't seem to be getting any better. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice on rectifing this would be great. Thank you.

I don't know where you tied the slave to, but have you bled it with a VCDS?

Octy1 so just nip open bleed nipple Nand let it run out with a couple of half pumps on the peddle by hand lifting it manually.

Make sure plenty of fluid, and bleed the two nipples hiding under the resevoir too, they cause issues and are hidden.a bit

Hi, I have the older version vag-com. I wasn't aware I could bleed the clutch with it. As my car is quite old there are only a few modules I can access. Would this be under the ABS module?

I have read somewhere this needs to be done with an easi bleed kit?

many would say yes but i had no problems using a clear piece of pipe, same with brakes, no problem, many times, however 1 or 2 will be in disagreement. I ran ate blue race fluid through all brakes and clutch lines this way

Don't use an EasiBleed; use a vacumn bleeder. I can't remember the details of the reasonng, but the source of this advice is a VAG Master Technician.

The pressure of the easi bleed has been known to pop the seals on the slave cylinder.

Great advice
