BMW 335d coupe, or VXR8 6.2 saloon?

Featured Replies

I believe the jag V8 in the XK is supposed to sound imense. Really throaty.

The present model XK8/XKR do sound immense!!!

Our was the first shape & sounded too civilised (until 4000RPM!!), then all you heard was supercharger

That was probably down to the subdued exhaust note - then again, it may have been damned bloody quick, but it was still a Jaguar (so luxurious)

  • When i was in the market for a mid size saloon i tested everything going and quite honestly if you dont buy a bmw 3/5 series then you must love inferior products because there is nothing any other car

  • I'd go for the Vauxhall if it were me. As you say tthere is loads of bmw's. You only live once and all that.

  • In an ideal world I would have a proper Holden HSV Maloo but the VXR is a stonking car. As you say, much more original than the BM. Go on, you know you want to

The biggest problem with the jag xkr is the 80 year old bloke down the street drives one.....

& if we stick to ridiculous stereotypes, Skodas are all driven by taxi drivers, MX5's by hairdressers and BMW's by ****s!

i just couldnt pass him every morning while dothing my flat cap........

Ha!

Ferrari's are often driven by old codgers too, doesn't put me off wanting a 458 or F40 though!!

Get the big V8. If you go for the sensible choice now, you will regret it when you look back. I know the beemer is the more sophisticated product, that could be mapped to go as fast, but there is nothing like the feeling you get from driving a decent sized N/A V8. You may want to look at some of the higher power option Monaro derivatives too, 500BHP is doable. The BMW is nice, really, but it will never have the noise, throttle response and character of the VXR8.

Chris

I'm obviously biased but what about a V6T S4? Or a 4.2 RS4?

RS4 would be perfect for the bad weather, great sound and nice car to be in. Why get the VXR8 when you could get the RS4? You get admiring looks as opposed to massive chav looks, you get a great V8 noise second only to mercs AMG. Or as said above B8 S4 performance and economy(ish).

Because it's an Audi and they're nose heavy compared to the BMW and and sole less compared to the Crazy Holdens?

Please don't get the coupe! :( lol

Plus most rs4's are approaching the sort of age and milage you really dont want to be owning them at. A audi sales manager was telling me that they rarely put the trade in on the forcourt as they cost too much to put through the audi approved used scheme
