17925 - Power Supply Relay for ECU

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Yesterday a friend with a 2004 VW Polo 9N had his EPC light come on so today we did a scan with vcds. As already suggested in Fabia section, none of the brake lights work, which points to the infamous brake pedal switch ( http://www.fabia-vrs.com/technical-info/brake-pedal-switch-failures/ )

The Auto-Scan however came up with two faults:

2 Faults Found:

17925 - Power Supply Relay for ECU (J271 or J363): Electrical Malfunction

P1517 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal

P0571 - 35-00 - -

Readiness: 0000 0000

From what I reckon, the second one is the brake pedal switch, but any ideas about the first one? Obviously the car is out of warranty and after this confirmation, we would order the new pedal switch and install it ourselves but is that other fault something serious which needs to be looked or would just a new switch solve the problem?

Thanks!

Replace the switch, clear the faults and do another scan at a later date. The relay fault could well be a one off that occurred once a long time ago. not likely to be related to the brake light problem.

Well, I cleared the faults and they both re-appeared on next start. As neither me nor my friend will have a lot of free time in the near future, he's already booked a visit at the dealer's, beginning of next week. From what they told us they think the faults are related and that replacing the switch will solve them both.... Guess we will have wait and find out...
