New way of removing dents via ultrasound type of process?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Like many in Hinckley my car was caught in the large hail storm and has about 40 dents in the roof and bonnet.

In was on a tour of the Triumph factory in Hinckley and one of the engineers was trying to describe a new process of removing dents.

It sounded like ultrasound as sound waves tuned to a specific frequency vibrate metal and return it to near original shape.

Anyone heard of this process please?

Best wishes

J

Sorry, OT,

but this is going to be a growing trend in Bodyshops.

As done by 'Liquid Transformations in the US.

Done with a water transfer process.

If you have a dent that you can pop out, vibrating the body panel makes it easier.

In the aircraft industry (military), there are ultrasonic guided CNC repair cells, but these are just too expensive for the motor industry.

I think like all technology when it's mass produced the costs drop
