EGR on BLT

Featured Replies

i know there are 146 threads about this and please forgive me for starting another but i have an SE, so a BLT engine code, and it has the famous hesitation at ~1,800rpm. It's not too bad, and i have lived with it for the past three months but i'm making a visit to the dealers this weekend and wondered if i should get the 9mm/14mm gasket fix put on the car or should i just blacnk off the EGR altogether?

From my limited understanding, if i remove the EGR valve the engine management light will come on, which i'd rather not have, so am i best just to blank it off and leave the Anti-shudder on? If i do this, will it effect the set-up of the intercooler from the group buy thread?

The car also has a stage one Shark map, will i need to do anything about changing this if i mess about with the EGR valve?

Fit the gasket. I did and it solved the hesitation. Doubt you'd have to do anything to the map, but I'm not an expert.

As Slamby says - fitting the gasket will sort you out. Have a read here.

With regards to the EGR, yes the warning light will come on if you take the EGR off.

If you blank it off from my uerstanding you'll still get the warning light as the ecu will be confused by it's non-readings.

The light can be can be turned off by "mapping it out" but that will require a trip back to Shark (or similar)

EGR or no EGR will make no difference to the performance of your map or of your front mount
