Apparantly not :/ Got a 2nd hand turbo from a 04 plate. But my mecahnics just text saying the manifold doesnt fit ... F**k

Sure he hasn't got it from another PD130 from a Golf/Passat? IIRC they fit, but they need part of the turbo turning to the correct orientation to mate up with the Fabia pipework, try searching for "clocking".

Was told its from a 04 plate fabia. Mechanic told me the manifold will not go in on egr flange, its in different place... whatever that means.... :(

I'll look for 'clocking' just incase though, cheers.

I had trouble with my flanges once - had to get a cream from the doctor and everything :D

A Golf turbo essentially points the opposite direction to the Fabia one.

"Clocking" is just the term for undoing it and rotating it so it fits.

It might be possible that a turbo from an early ASZ engine won't fit straight on to a later BLT engine?

I know they have different EGR valves so it could be someting to do with that.

Cheers mate, not what i wanted to hear haha but at least i know. See what the mechanic can pull out the bag, not heard from him for a while, no news is good news! Or hes given up n gone for a butty...

How much was your new kkk turbo mate, ive been quoted £650.

When i say new i mean second hand.

I did exactly the same as you and snapped up a 60k one from a member on here for £150

Just saving now for the £300 to get it fitted and hoping it doesn't go pop before then! :S

Ahh right, yeah im paying about £200 - 250 fitting but thats cos i always use him and itll need an oil flush or something to makesure the previous one wasnt starved of oil. Good luck with yours.. not cheap!

Get him to blank off the egr hole on the Mani and at the egr with a bit of ally or steel plate. Youre trying to fit an ASZ turbo to a BLT. Or the other way around. It'll likely flag an EML but not put you in limp mode, you can then have the light mapped out. Make sure you plug the vacuum line to the egr too

How do you know your turbo is on the way out bud? is this something I should be looking for?

It's been really whistly for a while (not that i noticed) but when te susspension was changed at Unit18 they returned from the road test and commented that it "didn't sound the best"

A cheap replacement with half the miles came up so I took th eopportnuity to get a banker in just in case.

Mine was really whistly too mate until it went pop/whoosh. i never picked up on it until it went pop/whoosh  ...

I'll update everone on my turbo soon as off to the garage in a min.

So it shouldn't whistle?

Mine does... Sometimes when I start the car up and i am idling it will whistle for about 10 seconds... is that normal?

Well.. its more of a high pitch noise.

Looks like I'm in the same boat :( Just happened to me today! Well chuffed off!!

In the last twelve months I've had issues upon issues with mine. It's a 54 plate and wondering whether it's time to chop it in. Can't really afford to, but makes me wonder what's next!!

I`v never understood this sentiment. I got my fabia, within the first 2 years (ish) I had to do the turbo, clutch, all the bushes, and other bits. However, once they are done, you know they are good for xx years. Selling up and getting something else your back to square one not knowing whats done and whats about to go.

OT, Turbos are all about how they are treated. Look after it, and it`ll last years & 1000`s of miles. Abuse it (or the previous owner has) and it`ll give up much sooner. Same with the clutch really, drive round at 1200rpm in 6th and boot it all the time that`ll soon give up. Once they are replaced, you know how you have looked after them.

I'm in the same boat! I've been told that my turbo has has gone - absolutely gutted!!

So, what do you guys recommend getting? Mine is remapped, which has probably caused this issue!!

I've seen these turbo's

What's your thoughts guys? I've been told they need to come with the manifold. Is there anything else I need?

What sort of treatment is bad for turbo's?

I only know of cooling them down a bit after a journey (as well as regular oil changes)

You can get a hybrid garret pd130 for 750 from dirty-torque

Saying that we still dont know if its the turbo lol. Any news?

Can you really get a PD130 turbo from dirty-torque? I've been on their website and the turbos are £2100!!

Do they do others, apart from the one they're advertising?

Yeh we do others buddy that's our big kit :)
