Boost problem after doing the engine simplification!

Featured Replies

OK so I tidy up my engine bay yesterday took out the N112/N249 and SAI all came out fine never put a resistor on the leads as they still haven't arrived.

but the car at 3000-3500 revs splutters and then continues on going anyone experienced this and maybe knows what the problem is?

I'm getting the same eccentric . Although I only bypassed my n249 ... I think

My spluttter at 3000rpm was there before I did the bypass though ... I'm not sure what it is . But tonight I got a p0171 code and an engine management light ... I believe this is a faulty MAF or a split vacuum hose ,?! I'm not sure are the two problems related . But I cleared the code an will investigate further

The only thing i would recommend is getting it on vagcom and see what codes come up,obviously it will come up with codes related to n249 etc,but you may have a coil starting to go,so may come up with a misfire code.

You have both put pipes back onto fuel pressure regulator and dump valve back in from the vac nipples on inlet manifold

ET, post up some pics ;)

I plugged the N249 and N112 connectors back in with no pipes attached and has cleared the faults but still having boosting issues

Here is how I did it

Blue pipe is a temporary pipe until my CMS ones arrive.

It goes from the top of the DV to the spare nipple on the Inlet

I did the evac simplification too and went from the crankcase straight to the OCC

And plugged the spare nipple with a bolt

There is no spare nipples no cracked pipes that I can find and no pipes not blocked off.

I still have the stutter in power between 3-4000 revs seems to be fine after that.

Only conclusions I can come to is N75, MAF, Another boost leak or the remap needs looking at.

Anyone have any ideas?

I also noticed if I drive for a while at around 100kph in 5th gear the car dies for a sec then keeps on going is this any relation?

Hi m8, is this still happening? if so you can unplug the MAF to see if that's the issue, have you checked the charge pipe at the back fo the engine that connects to the pancake pipe - older versions of these are prone to leads, you will probably see oil on the pipe if it's leaking. Once you have all your pipe work done, if you're still seeing this issue, it's probably worth bringing it back to the chap that mapped it and have him tweak it a bit.

Is this the pipe in question cause it's the only pipe I haven't changed(to silicone) yet as it wasnt included in my Boost kit I ordered with creation. When I was changing the pancake to ic I noticed there was a lot of oil build up in it.

Do you still have a vac pipe going to fuel pressure regulator on fuel rail as one goes to dv and other to the fuel pressure regulator

I'm still experiencing bad boost problems and with each fix the boosting changes or gets worse in my latest case. I tried removing the maf and it just went to c**p so plugged it back in.

This is my current setup anything marked green is new silicon piping anything marked red is blanked off.

If your running a relocated Dv,try putting back in std place and see if that make a diff,if not turn dv around so bottom of Dv goes to Tb pipe,

Ok so its been at least a week and I've finally got it sorted.

It turned out to be nothing to do with the simplification mod or wrong piping, it was the fuel pump going on it so replaced it!

Now the car is running better than it ever has!

Thanks lads!

Well I test my system for leaks. Tried various n75 valves and ran it without the maf plugged in so I eliminated them. Then found that apparently the fuel pump is a common problem which can cause similar symptoms. So it was my last resort so I tried one my friend had lying around and worked a treat. I think they can be got for about 80 as I'm think of just investing in a brand new one.

Thanks for info pal this is very difficult to explain to people who havent experianced the same problem. Hhhmmm i think my N75 valve will be my first part to try as i have had blips in the past when this has popped up on the ecu and iv just reset it and it seems to be ok. Did you try the same style valve or one of the other models?

Cheers pal, not a bad price, well not bad as long as that fixs the problem;) I will check my funds and update when sorted! Thanks!!
