Problem solved! SEE FOR FIX

Featured Replies

I was just about to post this:

I am experiencing some strange problems on my MkII Octy, the clues are :

1 N/S/R window stopped working.

2 Indicators no longer flash when locking or unlocking car though car locks and unlocks

3 Indicators no longer flash with alarm (alarm has never sounded so don't know if the alarm is going off at all)

4 Window operator button on offending door does not light up

5 Audio on offending door still working

6 No warning lights

Any help? I read through some older posts and found some similar problems with some symptoms but no conclusive answers. Really would like to avoid a trip to dealer or at least to visit dealer with a part diagnosis

so as not to pay for several hours of investigatory work...

When I decided to have one last poke around. Upon removing the rubber hose between the offending door and pillar, I noticed two multi pin plugs on the pillar, the top one having the left-most brown wire slightly hanging out. Jammed it back in - Bingo! No problems!

That would have been my exact suggestion...

And think how much you've saved in diagnostics fees at a dealership - enough to fill you car with go juice and you with beer...

Seriously, it was likely that the loom between door and car should be the first place to look as most of the faults pointed to a lack of power getting through to the door modules.

A scan with VCDS would have shown more information on the problem before rummaging around. Well done on finding it so quickly.

Was the NSR door locking & unlocking with the rest?

The only one that confused me was the lack of warning lights!

For point no. 3 it's likely your alarm siren has died if you've never heard it, even when your hazard lights are flashing.
