The Yeti has Landed!

Featured Replies

Well, after ordering in May 2011 and getting a serious run around with a broker that ultimately went bust, it's finally arrived! My new Yeti (Ivy) was finally collected on Friday afternoon. Following a somewhat brief handover at Rainworth Skoda, we were on our way. Went up to Clumber Park and took a few photos (as you do!).

The car is everything we'd hoped, and although it only just fits in the garage - it fits! Loving the high driving position, the almost instant power delivery and the toys. The sunroof is excellent.

Looking forward to getting some miles in it now.

Well chuffed - finally!

After 6 months and 9000 miles with my 170 I have to say it is a great car ... hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours.

12 months this Wednesday for me, and only 5500 miles done :o

You need to get out more ... no wonder i've never seen you on the road!

I've only done 27,600 in 21 months, so low mileage too

Almost nothing for the last month as I have had an eye infection. So boring.

Enjoy the new car. The novelty will not wear off.

In the past I have normally changed cars every 2 years, but not this time.

Seems that I'm in good company 14,000 in 7 months

Lots of very comfortable driving

I've done about 46,000 in 3 1/2 years in my CR170 and have ordered another. I'm not sure there's another car out there that does everything I want/need nearly as well.

Congratulations StevieK, I picked up a similar car in black 3 weeks ago, gotta agree with the sunroof but then I guess I would as mine has it. If you like it 1/2 as much as I enjoy mine you'll love it. So far I've only done 1100 miles so the engine is still quite tight although I'm letting her (Jana) rev a tad more now and it's a real peach!

So true, have been pondering this off late and there is no equal to the Yeti in the price range.

So true, have been pondering this off late and there is no equal to the Yeti in the price range.

During my wait I considered alternatives (X1 - yuk, X3 - Too Expensive with Options, Qashqai - too Family, Evoque (see X3), ix35 - too soft) but nothing came close. Having now got it, the Yeti for me excels at pretty much everything I wanted. Normally, something else comes along that ticks all the boxes but nothing really has with the Yeti. I was tempted to take a look at the new Mazda CX5 but there is just something about the styling of the Yeti that appeals more. Just smitten with it really.

Interesting to hear from those of you coming up for replacements that you'd do it all again though - it reaffirms my choice!

My ponderings ...

X1 - OK. But not special enough to warrant the extra cash.

X3 - Too expensive.

Qashqai - Low towing limits, no 170 equivalent engine, image (??)

X Trail - Must be due to be replaced. Expensive for similar spec.

Freelander - Not very economical and my engine of choice -SD4 in auto only. Expensive.

Evoque - Would have one tomorrow but for price.

CX5 - Maybe, but no spare wheel option.

Kuga - Wait and see what the new one looks like.

CRV - As above

ix35 - Styling. 180 engine only available in auto.

Sportage - Styling has grown on me, 180 engine now available but only in KX4 spec so very expensive

Tiguan - Expensive

Volvo XC 40 - Who knows what it will look like but a real possibility if the price is right for the 175 model.

However chances are when the time comes it'll be Yeti number two (Skoda number 6!).

Stevie did you buy via the Skoda store? Are they really rainworth Skoda Internet?

Hi StevieK,

I hope to be right behind you, mine is in the UK and I expect delivery in 10 to 14 days... It has been a very long wait!

I don't think it's even a price range thing - what else has the tiny turning circle, the same balance of quick-but-not-thirsty, is a great road car but will trundle happily across building sites and/or snow and retains so much value after 3 years? 'Course, there are some minor niggles, but the overall balance is near-perfect for me.

I just wish the current colour selection was a bit more inspiring! ;)

I cannot believe that you are looking for a new car already :o

I'm not ... but I like to have a plan!

March 2014 or thereabouts will be change time.

Great news! That'll be the last of the ultra-patient ones then!

I'm sure you'll love it. My only problem is that work gets in the way of driving it.... :giggle:

Hi,

Both Rainworth and Bickerton are the franchises behind Skodastore. I think I've seen this posted on here already.

I found Rainworth to be very efficient and handled my purchase very well.

Cheers

StevieK

Thanks, I did guess but had not seen the post you mentioned. I'll take three lashings and increase my lurking on this forum to 95% of my time....its about 90% at the moment!

I have contacted Skoda Store and I'm only 6 miles from Rainworth so watch this space.

Our 170 is due for replacement next March and were it not for a change in our requirments I think we'd have ordered another one by now, as there really isn't anything else that combines price, quality and driving experience quite so well.

As it is, we need a higher towing capacity and have decided to probably go for something a bit more expensive, so we've lined up test drives in a Touareg SE 245 (3500kg towing capacity) and an A6 Allroad 245 (2500kg towing capacity - which is just about what we need for two horses). Both look nice in the flesh and should do the job nicely and cost about the same once spec'd up, so just have to see which one we prefer (I think I know the answer already; A6 for me, Touareg for her, but we'll see - might actually be neither!)

Phew. I actually thought you were looking. I mean how long did the last octavia last?
