Drivers side central locking window reg plug

Featured Replies

Well I just took off my drivers side door card an disconnected the multi pin plug at the bottom of the window regulator an the male side of the plug had 2 pins completely corroded off .. This seems to be the source of my drivers door central locking issue . Just wondering has anybody attempted a DIY fox on this or does the whole unit have to be replaced ????

I have in the past. It was a pain to do and involved removing the circuit board, which meant cutting a hole in the side of the plastic casing and digging out the yellow sealer around the pins. I managed to solder in a couple of pins and get them to line up with the connector.

And did it work ok ford fan ?

Surprisingly it did, but I don't know how long for.

I would be tempted to souce a good second hand unit. I had same probs as you, changed door control unit as mine had pins corroded. The new control unit didnt sort mine as the water had travelled down the loom and rotted the pins on the other end of the loom, just something to watch out for mate. New loom is £107 ouch! Was lucky and got decent loom from breakers for £5 :-)

i managed to open the box on the motor, solder a wire onto the back of where the pins were originally, and splice it into the loom. been working for almost a year like that now. good luck

im going to give this a go..i cant source a second hand unit from anywhere,,my only fear would be splitting the box to do the soldering and mess everythingtotally up :(

If it dont work now, you can't make it worse.
